Asmaa Harimi is a contemporary abstract expressionist artist based in the United Kingdom. Originally from Casablanca and now living and working in the UK, she studied at the Academy of Arts in Brussels, where she developed a strong interest in textured abstraction and the use of language as both form and meaning.
Influenced by music, literature, and philosophy, her work explores the tension between control and spontaneity, silence and expression, structure and chaos. Her abstract expressionist paintings are built through layered textures, gestural movement, and written or implied language, creating works that extend beyond the surface of the canvas.
Using dynamic body movement and everyday visual references, Asmaa approaches abstraction as an emotional and intuitive language. Working with a wide range of techniques, tools, and materials, she addresses universal themes such as life, spirituality, power, hope, love, and human struggle.
Each painting invites open interpretation, encouraging viewers to connect with their own experiences and reflections.
Her work has been presented in group exhibitions in the United Kingdom, Belgium, and France. A full list of exhibitions can be found on the Exhibitions page.
